Harvard House, Ringmer

The existing 0.32 hectare site was occupied by Harvard House, an empty 50-bed care home, built in 1975, which consisted of two and three storey elements.

Due to be completed in 2017, the proposed home has been developed as a 2 storey building forming a unified street elevation along Harvard Road.  The care home building forms an approximate V-shape on the site with an enclosed, secure courtyard in the centre of the plan, accessed from several of the Home's communal spaces.

Varying set backs within the main elevations, together with changes in the roof form, eaves lines and low level canopies, have been provided to articulate the building and provide an architectural vernacular appropriate for the area.
